(Newswire.net — April 20, 2022) Orlando, FL — Diabetes is estimated to affect 382 million individuals with type 2 diabetes. Today, more and more researchers are studying the various aspects of diabetes, and this includes its link with pain.
This is demonstrated by a study published in PLOS ONE.
This meta-analysis of studies has shown the associations between diabetes and back or neck pain outcomes.
This review, which was carried out by the researchers from the University of Sydney, has shown individuals with diabetes have an increased risk of experiencing low back pain by 35 percent compared to those without diabetes.
Further, the research has shown a 24 percent heightened risk of neck pain. It is worth noting that a majority of adults suffer from low back pain during their lives. Nearly half suffer from neck pain at some stage.
“There was insufficient evidence in the review to establish a causal relationship between diabetes and back or neck pain,” said Associate Professor Manuela Ferreira.
Ferreira is the paper’s senior author and from the University’s Institute of Bone and Joint Research.
“Diabetes and low back pain and neck pain seem to be somehow connected. We can’t say how but these findings suggest further research into the link is warranted,” Associate Professor Ferreira said.
It is worth noting that both type 2 diabetes and low back pain have a strong link with obesity as well as the lack of physical activity. The analysis also adds to the evidence that physical activity and weight control play fundamental roles in health maintenance.
“Neck and back pain, and diabetes, are afflicting more and more people,” said co-author and collaborator Associate Professor Paulo Ferreira from the Faculty of Health Sciences.
“It’s worth committing more resources to investigate their interrelationship. It may be that altering treatment interventions for diabetes could reduce the incidence of back pain, and vice versa.”
Pain is one of the most common symptoms of certain diseases, and these include arthritis. There are pain relievers being widely resorted to by individuals struggling from pain due to the condition.
However, it is also worth noting there are safer alternatives to these medications and one is glucosamine. This amino sugar has anti-inflammatory benefits and is found by studies to have the ability to lessen pain severity.
Individuals who suffer from pain may benefit from the use of supplements like VitaBreeze Glucosamine. This amazing formula continues to be a popular choice in the global market today (http://www.amazon.com/Glucosamine-Chondroitin-Turmeric-Dietary-Supplement/dp/B00DUMO9X4).
