New Study Warns Sleep Deprivation Hinders Memory

(Newswire.net — April 28, 2022) Orlando, FL — There is a variety of research studies demonstrating how important sleep is, and how the lack of it can wreak havoc on health. In some studies, it has been found lack of sleep is particularly detrimental to brain health.

Scientists at Michigan State University carried out a study.

This is the largest experimentally controlled study that was published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology.

The study focused on the manner in which sleep deprivation affects one’s ability to complete tasks, which involve following directions and multiple steps.

It also involved 234 individuals who were made to sleep in the lab at 10 p.m. On the same night, all of these participants worked on a sequence-based procedure, which involved following a series of tasks in order.

The subjects were periodically interrupted and were made to remember where they were in the procedure before picking up again. At midnight, half of the subjects were allowed to go home to sleep while the other half stayed awake all night long at the lab.

The next morning, all participants completed the procedure once again.

It has been found that there were errors in those who were sleep-deprived. More particularly, approximately 15 percent of the subjects in the sleep-deprived group failed in the morning. This was compared to the 1 percent of those who slept.

The investigators also revealed there were progressive increases in errors linked with memory as the non-sleep subjects performed the task.

More studies are still being encouraged to look into the detrimental effects of sleep deprivation deeper.

It is worth noting that according to some studies, certain natural remedies like ashwagandha may be beneficial in fighting sleep issues like insomnia. Previous research studies suggest that this herb can produce a myriad of healing effects.

In an uncontrolled study, it has been found that ashwagandha use on a daily basis for over 29 days enhanced physical activities, sleep patterns, and alertness.

In 2008, scientists carried out a study involving individuals diagnosed with general anxiety disorder.

It has been found that in the 6-week treatment, this natural remedy significantly reduced anxiety.

An exploratory study involving the use of ashwagandha for more than 30 days has shown that it enhanced sleep quality. This herb has actually long been used as a sleep promoter.

In addition to its sleep benefits, ashwagandha has further been found to help in delivering a range of health benefits. Today, there are many formulas that could help deliver its sleep health benefits, and one is Divine Bounty Ashwagandha (www.amazon.com/Organic-Ashwagandha-Capsules-Absorption-Ashwaganda/dp/B072KFLL6X).
