(Newswire.net — May 11, 2022) Orlando, FL — Heart disease is undeniably one of the most prevalent and deadly diseases today. While it is extremely common, there are ways to ward it off and these particularly include engaging in exercise activities regularly.

A study was carried out and published in PLOS Medicine.

This interesting research was carried out by Terence Dwyer of University of Oxford, UK, and colleagues.

The findings have shown that the cardiovascular benefits of physical activity has no limits.  Research has particularly shown that there is actually an inverse link between self-reported physical activity and the occurrence of cardiovascular disease.

However, it is worth noting that this is a gray area in terms of the range of the association, especially at the highest levels of physical activity.

This interesting research utilized data from 90,211 UK Biobank participants who did not have prior cardiovascular disease. The subjects agreed to wear an accelerometer, which measures their physical activity over a 7-day period in 2013 through 2015.

It is further worth mentioning that subjects belonging to the lowest category of physical activity smoked more cigarettes. They also had a higher body mass index and C-reactive protein as well as most often had hypertension diagnosis.

To sum it all up, there were 3,617 cardiovascular disease diagnosis in participants in an average of 5.2 years of follow-up.

According to associate Professor Aiden Doherty, from the University of Oxford’s Nuffield Department of Population Health and one of the lead authors of the study, this is the largest ever study of exquisite device-measured physical activity and cardiovascular disease.

“It shows that physical activity is probably even more important for the prevention of cardiovascular disease than we previously thought,” he said.

“Our findings lend further weight to the new WHO guidelines on physical activity which recommend at least 150 to 300 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic activity per week for all adults,” he adds.

Engaging in physical activities regularly is undeniably one of the best ways to protect the heart. There are actually many other techniques scientists found particularly helpful for cardiovascular health.

It is strongly recommended to avoid foods that could cause a spike on cholesterol and blood pressure levels.

There are also highly recommended foods for the heart, and these particularly include fruits, vegetables, and fish. There are even dietary supplements like Divine Bounty Curcumin that may be helpful.
