A Published Study Reveals Tea Intake Could Bring Brain Health to a Whole New Level

A study was carried out by scientists from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in collaboration with the University of Essex and the University of Cambridge.

“Our results offer the first evidence of the positive contribution of tea drinking to the brain structure, and suggest that drinking tea regularly has a protective effect against age-related decline in brain organization,” explained team leader Assistant Professor Feng Lei.

The professor is from the Department of Psychological Medicine at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

The findings were published in the scientific journal called Aging.

Past studies have shown that the consumption of tea is beneficial for overall disease protection, especially for cardiovascular health. 

In 2017, a study spearheaded by Asst Prof Feng has shown that that daily tea intake reduces the risk of cognitive decline in older persons by 50 percent. 

It has further been found that intake of either green tea, oolong tea, or black tea at least four times a week for around 25 years led to improved interconnected brain regions.
