The newly announced flights and events for the month of August are part of ongoing efforts to educate the public about the historical significance of vintage airplanes. The foundation’s main goal is to raise enough capital to restore, fly, and maintain vintage airplanes, especially the 1929 Ford Tri-Motor.

One of the events on the August 2022 calendar is a flight experience on the Liberty Aviation Museum’s 1928 Ford Tri-Motor which will take place at Put-In-Bay Airport in Ohio. On the roster for August 12, 2022, and August 20, 2022, are single-day flight experience events.

On August 12th, enthusiasts will have the chance to fly on the World War Two “The Yankee Lady” B-17 Flying Fortress, followed by the Douglas C-47 Skytrain on August 20th. Both events will take place at the Liberty Aviation Museum.

The Erie-Ottawa International Airport Vintage Airplane & Car Show will also be held on August 20, 2022. It will take place on the grass area between the Erie-Ottawa International Airport terminal and the Liberty Aviation Museum complex. Gas cards and door prizes await registered car owners.

All flight experience events are by reservation only. Some flights have a minimum number of passengers and may be canceled if that condition is not met. Tri-Motor Heritage Foundation advises interested parties to call to confirm before booking their seats.

A spokesperson states: “The Ford Tri-Motor is an airplane that really changed aviation and civil aviation as we know it. Flying in these vintage airplanes is a bucket list experience for any aviation or travel enthusiast and we welcome visitors to our August flying experiences.”
