(Newswire.net — August 31, 2022) Orlando, FL — Mental health issues like anxiety and depression are notoriously known for their symptoms. In a study, they have been found to produce chronic pain.
The findings of this research were published in the Journal of Affective Disorders.
It involved a survey of adults suffering from anxiety or mood disorders like depression or bipolar disorder.
More particularly, the investigators tried to analyze the links between DSM-IV-diagnosed mood and anxiety disorders and self-reported chronic physical conditions among 5,037 adults in São Paulo, Brazil.
According to Silvia Martins, MD, PhD, the dual burden of chronic physical conditions and mood and anxiety disorders is a significant and growing problem.
Silvia Martins is associate professor of Epidemiology at the Mailman School of Public Health, and senior author.
The researchers particularly stress that chronic pain was most common among those with mood disorder by 50 percent. It was then followed by respiratory diseases at 33 percent, cardiovascular disease at 10 percent, arthritis reported by 9 percent, and diabetes by 7 percent.
For those with chronic pain disorder, anxiety disorders were also common by 45 percent.
Experts strongly stress that the combination of chronic disease and a psychiatric disorder is a pressing issue that health care providers should seriously look into.
The high prevalence of mental health issues continue to alarm more and more experts today. There are many scientists who carry out studies to investigate not just the complications of these mental health problems, but also their potential remedies.
It is worth mentioning that some nutrients like magnesium have been scientifically found to help fight anxiety and some other mental health issues.
Scientists carried out a review in 2017 and it involved looking into 18 different studies. This research looked into mild anxiety, anxiety during premenstrual syndrome, postpartum anxiety, and generalized anxiety.
It has been found that magnesium helped in decreasing anxiety. The investigators suggest that magnesium might aid in decreasing anxiety due to its ability to enhance brain function.
Previous studies have demonstrated that magnesium plays a significant role in regulating neurotransmitters, which transmit messages throughout the body and brain.
Some scientists further suggest magnesium aids in brain functions involving the reductions of stress and anxiety.
There are quite a number of health benefits linked with the use of magnesium. It is important to realize that today, more and more experts strongly recommend its use for a range of medicinal purposes.
In experiencing its healing benefits, it is wise to consider the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Magnesium Citrate (http://www.amazon.com/Divine-Bounty-Magnesium-Citrate-Supplement/dp/B01LYWPNY6).
