(Newswire.net — September 9, 2022) Orlando, FL — Covid-19 continues to claim millions of lives worldwide, and there are certain groups found particularly prone to its ill health effects.
Study estimates have shown that two-thirds of Covid-19 hospitalizations are due to four medical conditions.
This modeling study was published in the Journal of the American Heart Association (JAHA).
It suggests that most adult Covid-19 hospitalizations nationwide are caused by at least one of the four pre-existing conditions, namely obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and heart failure, in that order.
The study was spearheaded by researchers at the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University.
The investigators used a mathematical simulation in estimating the number as well as the proportion of national COVID-19 hospitalizations. It is worth noting that these hospitalizations could have been prevented if Americans did not have the four major cardiometabolic conditions.
It is further worth noting that in other studies, every condition has been strongly associated with the increased odds of poor outcomes with COVID-19 infection.
“While newly authorized COVID-19 vaccines will eventually reduce infections, we have a long way to go to get to that point. Our findings call for interventions to determine whether improving cardiometabolic health will reduce hospitalizations, morbidity, and health care strains from COVID-19,” said Dariush Mozaffarian, lead author and dean of the Friedman School.
“We know that changes in diet quality alone, even without weight loss, rapidly improve metabolic health within just six to eight weeks. It’s crucial to test such lifestyle approaches for reducing severe COVID-19 infections, both for this pandemic and future pandemics likely to come.”
The investigating team estimated that out of the 906,849 total COVID-19 hospitalizations in U.S. adults as of November 18, 2020, 274,322) were attributable to obesity, 237,738) were attributable to hypertension, and 185,678) were attributable to diabetes.
Around 12 percent or 106,139 cases were attributable to heart failure.
Scientists have been investigating the various aspects of Covid-19 and how its potentially fatal effects can be reduced. It is worth noting that experts have time and again said it is imperative to maintain strong immunity.
By having a strong immune system, the potentially fatal effects of Covid-19 may be reduced. There are many ways to boost the body’s defenses, such as following a healthy diet. Many of the disease-fighting foods have strong nutrients that can boost immunity.
These include B vitamins that experts have been investigating due to their strong medicinal benefits.
These nutrients may be obtained through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex, which has Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6.
