( — September 14, 2022) Orlando, FL — Health authorities have been increasingly warning against the fatal impacts of Covid-19, especially for at-risk groups. These particularly include individuals who have conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

A study was carried out by Jaber Alqahtani of University College London, UK, and colleagues.

The authors of this research were trying to understand not just the prevalence but also the impacts of COPD in those with Covid-19. This is due to the given fact that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus has serious impacts on respiratory function.

The findings have shown that individuals who currently smoke and those with COPD have increased odds of severe complications. They also tend to have increased mortality with COVID-19 infection.

Around the globe, there is an estimated 251 million individuals with COPD. This common, persistent dysfunction of the lung called COPD is linked with airflow limitation.

This new study looked into the databases of scientific literature systematically. This was in an effort to find existing publications on Covid-19’s epidemiological, clinical characteristics, and features.

This also holds true for the prevalence of COPD in COVID-19 patients.

The researchers revealed that those Covid-19 patients who were critically ill and had COPD had a risk of severe disease by 63 percent and a 60 percent odd of mortality.

Those critically ill without COPD had only a 33.4 percent risk of severe disease. Current smokers were also found to have 1.45 times more odds of having severe complications compared to former and never smokers.

The authors said that despite the low prevalence of COPD and smoking in COVID-19 cases, COPD and current smokers were associated with greater COVID-19 severity and mortality.

Scientists continue to research ways to combat the dangerous effects of Covid-19. It is worth noting that strengthening the body’s defenses is key to reducing the dangerous impacts of this virus.

Making dietary and lifestyle improvements is key to strong immunity. It is also best to consider the use of all-natural remedies like Divine Bounty Curcumin, which is popularized by its high potency and purity.

Previous studies have shown curcumin has genoprotective, antifungal, adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, antiproliferative, antiviral, renoprotective, insulin-sensitizing, androgenic, antifibrotic, neurorestorative, and metal-chelating properties.

It also contains an anticoagulant, antiseptic, anti-platelet, antioxidant, anti-amyloidogenic, anti-cytotoxic, antibiotic, antimicrobial, anti-purulent, immunomodulating, and anticatabolic agents.

Some studies suggest curcumin works in boosting and protecting the body’s defenses. What makes it all the more beneficial is that it may also help combat COPD or reduce its severe effects (
