(Newswire.net — October 11, 2022) Orlando, FL — Health authorities have long been warning against obesity, which is linked with the increased odds of certain chronic diseases. The warning was strengthened when the pandemic hit and this is due to the fact that
Leading researchers from The University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee carried out a study.
In this research, the investigators tried to determine if excess body weight may have been linked with high rates of Covid-19 mortalities around the world.
Lead principal investigator Hamid Beladi, UTSA’s Janey S. Briscoe Endowed Chair in Business, and his colleagues looked into the plausible links between Covid-19 mortality and excess weight in almost 5.5 billion adults from 154 countries around the world.
“The main finding from the analysis is a statistically significant positive association between COVID-19 mortality and the proportion of the overweight in adult populations spanning 154 countries,” Beladi said.
“This association holds across countries belonging to different income groups and is not sensitive to a population’s median age, the proportion of the elderly, and/or proportion of females.”
The findings of this study were published in Public Health in Practice.
The researchers said that based on the study, the proportion of overweight individuals in a country’s adult population is one percentage point higher compared to the proportion of overweight in a second country’s adult population.
Then they added that it is reasonable to predict that mortality from COVID-19 would be higher by 3.5 percentage points in the first country than it would be in the second.
“The average individual is less likely to die from COVID-19 in a country with a relatively low proportion of the overweight in the adult population, all other things being equal, than she or he would be in a country with a relatively high proportion of the overweight in the adult population,” Beladi said.
Healthcare providers continue to strongly recommend resorting to some measures helpful in managing a healthy weight. Warding off obesity is one of the ways to reduce disease risk and the complications of Covid-19.
Aside from making dietary and lifestyle modifications, it can also be helpful to take into account the use of remedies like L-Carnitine. This therapeutic ingredient is obtained widely today through the use of superior-strength supplements like Divine Bounty L-Carnitine.
In previous research studies, it has been found L-Carnitine helps improve the body’s energy levels. This remedy may also work wonders in enhancing the body’s ability to shed extra pounds.
