Research Warns Phthalates Exposure Is Damaging to Reproductive Health

(Newswire.net — November 2, 2022) Orlando, FL — Toxins and chemicals have long been known to wreak havoc on various aspects of health. It is worth noting that in many studies, they can also negatively affect female reproduction.

A study shows that in female mice, prenatal exposure to phthalates is damaging to the reproductive tissue.

It is worth noting that this ubiquitous family of chemicals called phthalates is used on a daily basis. The investigators in this research sought to see how these compounds impact the development of tissue in the reproductive systems of female mice offspring.

“Phthalates are found everywhere: building products, personal care products, food and beverage containers, and medical equipment,” said Jodi Flaws (EIRH co-leader/MME), a professor of comparative biosciences.

“My research group focuses on how exposure to these environmental chemicals during pregnancy affects the offspring.”

In previous research carried out by the group, it has been found that phthalate mixtures have the ability to disrupt female reproduction, trigger the development of ovarian cysts, and change organ weights.

This study involved looking at how the same mixtures impact ovarian steroidogenesis in female mice offspring. It is worth noting that steroidogenesis pertains to a process involving the production of hormones that are needed for reproduction.

The researchers also studied folliculogenesis, which is essential for fertility. It is worth noting that these small fluid-filled sacs called follicles inside ovaries contain the eggs. Further, they undergo maturation prior to releasing the egg during ovulation.

In this study, the pregnant mice were orally treated with either a control or a phthalate mixture on a daily basis from the first day of pregnancy till birth.

“The reproductive system of the offspring develops during this window. The mice are no longer exposed to any phthalates after they are born,” Flaws said.

The investigators then collected the ovaries of the female offspring 60 days after birth and analyzed their tissues and hormone levels.

“We saw that the mixture can inhibit the expression of important genes that are involved in making hormones.

The findings of this research were published in Reproductive Toxicology.

More studies are still being carried out to look into the remedies potentially helpful in enhancing fertility. It is worth noting that there is a wide range of toxins people should avoid exposure to and be cleansed from.

In detoxifying the body from these chemicals and toxins, it may be best to take into account the use of Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal (www.amazon.com/Organic-Activated-Charcoal-Capsules-Whitening/dp/B071NZ5G56).
