(Newswire.net — November 16, 2022) Orlando, FL — Respiratory conditions like asthma are quite common today. It is worth noting that in some studies, it has been found this condition increases the odds of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

One study was carried out and published in the Annals of the American Thoracic Society.

In this study, which was carried out in Ontario, Canada, it has been found that over 4 in 10 women with asthma may potentially develop COPD.

The study comes in titled “Asthma and COPD Overlap in Women: Incidence and Risk Factors.”

It was carried out by Teresa To, Ph.D., and coauthors, who looked into 4,051 women with asthma. It has been found that 1,701, or 42 percent, developed COPD. It is worth noting that on average, the female subjects were followed for around 14 years after being diagnosed with asthma.

The researchers looked into the risk factors for the development of asthma and COPD overlap syndrome, known as ACOS. It is worth noting that individuals who develop ACOS had increased exacerbations and hospitalizations and have a lower quality of life.

They were compared to those who have asthma or COPD alone.

According to Dr. To, previous studies have found an alarming rise in ACOS in women in recent years and that the mortality rate from ACOS was higher in women than men.

Dr. To is a professor at the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Toronto in Canada.

“We urgently need to identify and quantify risk factors associated with ACOS in women to improve their health and save lives,” he adds.

The authors reveal that individual risk factors played a more important role in ACOD development than exposure to fine particulate matter. This is a major air pollutant that has the ability to penetrate deep into the lungs due to its microscopic size.

There are habit changes and remedies found to be particularly beneficial for lung health. It is important to keep in mind that many conditions affecting the lungs are highly preventable.

Some remedies like the use of curcumin may be helpful. This phytochemical is known widely for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. It has long been studied due to its strong lung health benefits.

Studies looking into its healing effects actually pile up. There are even many who turn to the use of extra-strength formulas like Divine Bounty Curcumin for preventive health purposes. This supplement doesn’t just have highly potent and pure curcumin, but also black pepper.

This natural remedy works in enhancing curcumin absorption inside the body (https://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
