( — December 21, 2022) Orlando, FL — Various studies have highlighted the remedies potentially helpful in battling food poisoning, which is prevalent around the globe today.

Researchers carried out a study and found that a certain compound in cilantro kills the dangerous Salmonella bacteria. It is worth noting that cilantro is a key flavor component of salsa and other delectable dishes.

This joint study by U.S. and Mexican researchers shows promise as a safe, natural food additive that could be helpful in warding off foodborne illness.

The findings of this research were published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, a peer-reviewed publication of the American Chemical Society, the world’s largest scientific society.

In this research, the compound called dodecanal was isolated from the coriander. It is worth noting that such a compound is also present in the seeds of cilantro. Both seeds and leaves contain around the same amount of dodecanal. However, the leaves are used more abundantly in salsa.

In laboratory tests, it has been shown that duodenal doubled the potency of the commonly used medicinal antibiotic gentamicin at killing Salmonella. It is important to be warned salmonella is a frequent and sometimes fatal cause of foodborne illness.

“We were surprised that duodenal was such a potent antibiotic,” says study leader Isao Kubo, Ph.D., a chemist at the University of California, Berkeley.

A majority of natural antibacterial agents found in food are found to generally have weak activity. The study recommends an increased intake of salsa with one’s food.

“The study suggests that people should eat more salsa with their food, especially fresh salsa,” Kubo adds.

“If you were eating a hot dog or hamburger,” explains Kubo, “you would probably have to eat an equivalent weight of cilantro to have an optimal effect against food poisoning.”

Today, remedies like activated charcoal are gaining increasing popularity among individuals who suffer from food poisoning. Activated charcoal is actually used in emergency rooms in hospitals as an antidote for food poisoning.

There are many uses of activated charcoal aside from being a treatment for overdoses and poisonings. Through burning carbon-rich materials like coconut shells, peat, or wood at extremely high temperatures, it becomes equipped with a highly porous surface that serves as a magnet to toxins and chemicals.

Today, it is widely resorted to through the use of superior strength and unique formulas like Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal. This amazing formula is not just known to be highly potent and pure, but it also comes with a money-back guarantee (
