(Newswire.net — December 26, 2022) Orlando, FL — Health experts have long been warning against the intake of processed food, which is associated with the increased risk of various diseases.

Researchers from the University’s Nutritional Epidemiology Group carried out a study.

The investigators looked into whether there is an association between the intake of meat and dementia development. It is worth noting that dementia impacts 5 percent to 8 percent of people over the age of 60 worldwide.

They utilized data collected from 500,000 people in this research. It has been found that consumption of 25g serving of processed meat a day, the equivalent of one rasher of bacon, is linked with a 44 percent increased risk of developing the disease.

The findings of this research have shown that eating some unprocessed red meat like pork, beef, or veal may be protective. More specifically, those who consumed 50g a day were 19 percent less likely to develop dementia.

This study is called Meat consumption and risk of incident dementia: a cohort study of 493,888 UK Biobank participants. It was published today in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

“Worldwide, the prevalence of dementia is increasing and diet as a modifiable factor could play a role,” said lead researcher Huifeng Zhang.

XZhang is a Ph.D. student from Leeds’ School of Food Science and Nutrition.

“Our research adds to the growing body of evidence linking processed meat consumption to increased risk of a range of non-transmissible diseases.”

Data was provided by UK Biobank, which is a database containing in-depth genetic and health information from half a million UK participants aged 40 to 69. It included information such as the frequency of the consumption of different kinds of meat, spanning six options from never to once or more daily.

Decades of research have highlighted the impacts of unhealthy food on health, especially on the brain. It is important to note that aside from avoiding processed meat, there are other dietary measures found to be particularly helpful.

It is strongly recommended to consume nutrients like B vitamins, which have long been associated with a myriad of health benefits. Some studies suggest that there are B vitamins highly protective against diseases affecting brain health.

These nutrients may be safely and efficiently obtained through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex.
