(Newswire.net — December 27, 2022) Orlando, FL — Over the years, researchers have been carrying out studies to look into some measures to enhance and protect eye health. It is worth keeping in mind that poor vision could produce various undesirable consequences.

One study about visual impairment was published in the Scientific Reports journal.

Carried out by the researchers at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), this study looked into the manner the human subjects with simulated blurred vision negotiated with a 10 cm-high obstacle on the floor under increasing time pressure.

Part of the study was to record the manner the subjects negotiated the obstacle as well as their gaze.

It has been found that the group with visual impairment was able to lift their lead foot by 43 percent higher and 10 percent slower over the obstacle than the control group. There was also an increase in walking by 20 percent faster.

Scientists revealed that those with vision impairment suffered from increased levels of anxiety by 32 percent more than the control group irrespective of time pressure. Further, they tended to look down more frequently and for longer as they approached the obstacle.

An increasing number of studies are revealing the various aspects of eye health. It is worth keeping in mind that maintaining healthy vision is vital in reducing the odds of falls and injuries.

It is important to note that nourishing the body with nutrients like B vitamins could be extremely helpful for eye health.

Experts particularly recommend the intake of nutrients like B6, B9, and B12.

Studies suggest that intake of these nutrients aids in lessening the levels of homocysteine, which is a protein associated with inflammation. It is worth keeping in mind inflammation has long been found detrimental to health, including the eyes.

Homocysteine has also been found to increase the risk of AMD, which is a prevalent eye health issue.

A B vitamin called riboflavin has been found to work wonders in reducing oxidative stress in the eyes as well as other areas of the body. Some studies suggest there is a link between its intake and cataract prevention.
