Önder Şenol, Online General Manager of DeFacto clothing, Türkiye, will speak at the UN Women’s Conference CSW67 in New York to share insights into the company’s “Happy Women Movement” and “Dreams made of fabric” initiatives.

New York, 06 March, 2023 – Global fashion brand DeFacto, based in Türkiye, will be attending the ‘Commission on the Status of Women CSW67 (2023)’ at the United Nations in New York to discuss the company’s initiatives to empower women in workforce and beyond. Online General Manager, Önder Şenol will speak at three panels on 6-7 March 2023.

To empower DeFacto’s female employees, the company established the ‘Happy Women’s Movement’ initiative to offer female employees unparalleled support in their careers, allowing them to grow with the company. Meanwhile, the ‘Dreams made of fabric’ initiative has delivered a positive impact far beyond DeFacto’s employees. The project donates excess fabric to vocational high schools to be upcycled by female students, teaching them practical design and fabrication skills to create accessories and upcycle extra material. The proceeds of the project support the Hope Foundation for Children with Cancer (KAÇUV).

Since the establishment of the ‘Happy Women’s Movement’ in 2011, DeFacto has placed emphasis on executive training groups and a special management trainee program for women. Support also includes access to a fitness centre and instructors, a nutritionist, and wellness seminars. Additionally, the company hosts regular internal webinars to highlight female employees; continually researching and evaluating the satisfaction of women at DeFacto. For mothers and parents-to-be, support also extends to parental coaching, flexible policy for recent others, additional leave for parents, and nursery support.

Online General Manager, Önder Şenol commented, “From its inception, DeFacto has advocated not only for equal rights, but an equality of opportunity, knowledge and skills, for women and girls across its business practices. The ‘Happy Women’s Movement’ and ‘Dreams made of fabric’ initiatives take tangible and consistent action to promote these values.”

Önder Şenol will also talk briefly about the actions DeFacto has taken to support the people of Türkiye following the devastating earthquake that hit at the start of February. Among other immediate actions, DeFacto sent trucks loaded with winter clothing to areas affected by the earthquake. Alongside the Ministry of Family and Social Services of Turkey, DeFacto will also provide clothing to meet the needs of all children under the care of the Ministry in the earthquake zone, for one year.
