A new and very different pet-sitting service has launched, serving the Lakeway, Bee Cave, Bee Creek, and Briarcliff areas. A highly experienced, retired couple will offer a broad range of services, including dog-walking, house-sitting, and drop-ins for dogs, cats, birds, fish, furry mammals, and reptiles.
When looking at all rental listings, Austin ranked as the most “pet-friendly” city in the U.S., according to a recent Zillow analysis. Around 65% of homes in the larger Lakeway area are estimated to have pets, so there is plenty of demand for high-quality, dependable, and caring pet-sitting services.
Mic & Peter von Moltke recently relocated to the Lakeway TX area after a globe-trotting career that took them to 16 cities on 4 continents. Sensing an opportunity there, they launched a new business called “Awesome Pet Sitting Duo”, which can be viewed here Awesome Pet Sitting Duo.
“Most of the pet and house sitters in the area already have full-time jobs. They are therefore just not able to deliver high-quality, dependable, pet-focused services, and that’s where we saw the opportunity,” said Mic von Moltke, Co-Owner of Awesome Pet Sitting Duo.
We don’t treat cats like dogs, or vice versa. We understand the importance companionship and playtime is for both cats and dogs and of course also those unhurried, rewarding walks for our client’s dogs,” said Mic.
Along their life journey, they have looked after dogs and cats, young and old, plus parrots, finches, canaries, guinea fowl, ferrets, hamsters, rabbits, lizards, chameleons, saltwater aquariums, donkeys, and monkeys.
The couple had also hired pet sitters in all the places they have lived around the world, so have learned what works and what doesn’t from a client’s perspective.
Hiring a retired couple as pet and house sitters makes sense for several reasons:
1. Experience and Responsibility: Retired couples have years of life experience and often have a greater sense of responsibility. They understand the importance of taking care of a home and pets and will in most cases take their job far more seriously.
2. Flexibility: Retired couples often have more flexibility in their schedules, meaning they can spend more time at home with their client’s pets and take care of any unexpected issues that may arise.
3. Stability: Retired couples are likely to be more stable and reliable than younger, more transient individuals. They are typically more settled in their lives and committed to their work.
4. Personal Touch: Retired couples may provide a more personal touch to their pet-sitting, dog-walking, and house-sitting services. They will be more inclined to treat their client’s homes and pets as if they were their own and offer a warm and caring presence while they are away.
Because they are retired now, working together as a team, they have lots of flexibility to devote the time and attention their client’s pets deserve and make sure they take care of their homes and property with respect.
The Awesome Pet Sitting Duo is available to look after virtually any pet, including birds, fish, furry animals, and most reptiles, but they prefer not to take on snakes or spiders. They are available 7 days a week, from 7 AM to 9:30 PM, and one of them will also stay overnight if that is what the client wants. They may, however, occasionally block a day or two when they visit their granddaughter in Dallas.
Mic and Peter have always been passionate about any business they have started or worked for. With this new venture, they are combining their love for animals, the celebration of their new lives in beautiful Austin, and the enjoyment of each other’s company visiting homes, and walking dogs, while they build the business.
The Awesome Pet Sitting Duo is insured and bonded, and both Mic and Peter had their backgrounds checked and cleared when they signed up to be on the Rover platform and app.
