First Pitch Comes to the Canadian Gaming Summit

(Newswire.net — April 11, 2023) — SBC, the world’s leading organizer of sports betting and iGaming events has announced that its First Pitch startup competition will be part of the 26th Canadian Gaming Summit. The summit is going to take place from June 13 to 15, 2023 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center.

First Pitch has already been held at the SBC Summit North America in New Jersey and the global SBC Summit Barcelona event. It’s fantastic to witness that SBC has extended this opportunity to Canada at the Canadian Gaming Summit. Selected startups will have the chance to showcase their products to industry leaders and investors while competing for an exclusive prize package. This package is intended to aid in the development and growth of businesses.

The application period is currently open, after which a panel of distinguished professionals will evaluate each submission to select the five most promising startups. The judging line-up will be represented by Benjie Cherniak, Principal at Avenue H Capital, who is also an eminent investor and consultant in the sports betting industry, Dani Lipkin, Managing Director of Global Innovation Sector at TMX Group, and Scott Secord, Partner of Cardinal Sports Capital.

The First Pitch winner will receive a prize package valued at CA$30,000, which includes the following:

  • A Sports & Emerging Verticals subscription from Eilers & Krejcik Gaming for 6 months.
  • A unique package for brand or web design from Vegas Kings, the leading iGaming Design and Development Agency.
  • A comprehensive SBC Media promotional package, including 6 months of advertising on SBC Americas or Canadian Gaming Business, two featured editorials, and a newsletter promoting the business.
  • Two drafted press releases for all iGaming B2B media and the US via Business Wire at any time in 2023 with any updates that the winner would like to share.
  • A video interview was produced and distributed by GameOn.
  • Two additional thought-leadership articles would be published by SBC partners.

To be eligible for the competition, participating companies must have been founded in 2020 or later. Their primary focus must be the sports betting and iGaming industries, companies must not have received external funding exceeding CA$5 million, and have an MVP product to showcase. They must also be seeking investment of a minimum of CA$250,000 and have at least one representative from the company present at the competition.

The deadline for applications is April 30, 2023, at midnight (ET). The five finalists will be revealed by the First Pitch judges on May 12, 2023.
