Clear Vision Institute (385-222-2020), a full-service eye and vision care center in South Jordan, Utah, has expanded its treatment options for patients with inferior vision.

In particular, the center now offers LASIK surgery, a safe, quick, pain-free, and effective vision correction procedure for treating farsightedness, nearsightedness, and astigmatism.

As an outpatient refractive surgery, the expanded LASIK procedure offered by Clear Vision Institute takes less than 30 minutes to complete. In most cases, it provides permanent vision improvement, allowing patients to reduce their dependency on glasses and lenses.

Each year, over 700,000 people undergo LASIK surgery in the U.S., of which 90% achieve a vision that is 20/20 or better, says the American Refractive Surgery Council.

LASIK surgery involves using lasers to reshape the cornea – a clear, round dome at the front of the eye – in order to enhance its ability to focus light rays better on the retina.

The procedure is performed by creating a small flap on the patient’s cornea, which is then pulled back to reveal the underlying corneal tissue to be reshaped by the surgeon. Once completed, the flap is laid back into its original position, where it heals in place without stitching.

While patients may feel little to no pain during and after the surgery, Clear Vision Institute explains that some of the procedure’s side effects include blurry vision, dry eyes, glare, and halos. These side effects are temporary and usually resolve within a few weeks or months after surgery.

Though LASIK is one of the safest and most reliable vision correction treatments available today, the center states that not everyone is a suitable candidate for the procedure. Certain eye conditions, like persistent dry eye, thin corneas, and eye infections, can make one ineligible for the treatment, the clinic clarifies.
