Houston, TX – Ivy Kids Early Learning Center, in partnership with a local nonprofit, recently donated 68,500 diapers to support families in need in the Houston and Dallas areas.
The Diaper Drive concluded on April 15 after five weeks’ worth of gathering donations of diapers of all sizes. Parents, students, and staff at Ivy Kids Early Learning Centers throughout Texas participated and were able to deliver a total of 68,500 diapers to the Gabriela Mistral Center for Early Childhood from where they were distributed to families.

Connect Community, a local community development organization, helped coordinate the event. The group is committed to helping the richly diverse communities in the city find appropriate education and employment opportunities. Part of this commitment is helping young mothers, particularly those from immigrant families, have the support they need to raise their children.
According to Shamsa Winnegar, director of development and partnerships at Connect Community, partnering with Ivy Kids for this diaper donation event has helped families in need with the resources to nurture the health and well-being of their babies.
Ivy Kids shares that according to the Texas Diaper Bank, one in three families in the state does not have access to an adequate supply of diapers. The Diaper Drive was inspired by Ivy Kids’ World Changers Program, which teaches children to be better leaders for their communities and serve the underprivileged.
“At Ivy Kids, we strive to make a difference in the lives of children,” said Ivy Kids CEO Amyn Bandali. “Thanks to the support from the Connect Community team and all our Ivy Kids families and staff, we are happy to be able to meet a need for children in our community.”
