Dermysk Medical Aesthetics Academy has launched new training opportunities for Halifax locals, including a Basic Medical Aesthetics course that is optimized for new students, and recent high school grads.

The “Basic” course launched by Dermysk Medical Aesthetics Academy allows Halifax locals to begin working on their certification for up to a dozen common medical aesthetic procedures, immediately after graduation from high school.

More information about the “Basic” course, the full list of included procedures, and registration information for the Dermysk Medical Aesthetics Academy can be found at https://dermysk.com/pages/academy

Dermysk Academy’s new program uses training academies built in partnership with medical aesthetic clinics to provide students with hands-on training working with actual clients. Locations are now open across Canada, with courses in Basic, Advanced, and Master Medical Aesthetics, as well as injectable cosmetic procedures.

Using a unique combination of teaching styles, the courses allow students to do most of their learning online, at their own convenience, before attending in-person lessons or hands-on training sessions. Students of the “Basic” course will be asked to complete seven online modules before beginning their comprehensive practical training.

Beginning with the online module, students will learn about the medical aesthetics industry, the technology it uses, and what makes the procedures effective. This will include a brief section on the physics of lasers and detailed information about the biology of human skin and hair.

During the practical training, students will work individually with a certified professional to gain hands-on experience in a wide range of medical aesthetic procedures, such as fractional ablation, chemical peels, and dermaplaning. The course also covers a wide range of legal and regulatory concerns, business strategies, and an overview of the medical aesthetics industry.

To register for the “Basic” course, applicants must already have either a high school diploma or work experience in a relevant field. Advanced courses from the Dermysk Academy can be accessed either using a diploma from the previous level of training or by providing evidence of previous work experience as a medical aesthetician.

As the courses advance, students will learn a wider range of techniques that may include Cool Sculpting, PRP treatments, and vampire lifts. While the standard courses from the Dermysk Academy do not include injectable treatments, the Academy does offer a separate set of Basic, Advanced, and Master courses for interested students.
