Federal retirement expert, Public Sector Retirement Educators (PSRE), has announced the launch of pre-retirement training for U.S. federal employees. It teaches civil servants to maximize their pensions and reach financial goals.

Since 1986, the Federal Employee Retirement System has provided retired American civil servants with an ample lifetime annuity, contingent on their age, annual salaries, and period of service. The Public Sector Retirement Educators (PSRE) is set to train recipients to reach financial goals and achieve a fulfilling standard of living after retirement.

Planning and financial security rank as the most important elements for a happy retirement. Hence, PSRE aims to arm federal employees (retired or active) with the knowledge required to establish a strong financial foundation and maximize retirement benefits.

According to a recent survey of global financial literacy by Standard & Poor’s Rating Services, only 57% of American adults are financially literate. Financial illiteracy is a multifaceted problem in the US, cutting across socioeconomic classes. It even affects pensioned retirees, causing them to make poor financial decisions.

PSRE has a network of federal employee financial advisors, retirement experts, attorneys, and CPAs in almost every state of the U.S. Federal employees qualify for a one-on-one meeting with an advisor to discuss their savings plans and life insurance benefits—they will also learn how to minimize risk and increase monthly income throughout their lifetime.

PSRE offers several educational resources and services to demystify the complexities of retirement planning for federal employees. It caters to different learning methods with its standard classroom training, self-paced e-learning platform, financial education materials, and educational seminars. The web-based training is available at Federal Retirement Training

To mark the national financial literacy month of April, PSRE partnered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to hold a webinar on FERS/CSRS Annuities (Pensions). The webinar explored the intricacies of the retirement system, enabling federal employees to make informed decisions about their retirement benefits.

With over 83,000 employees, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is one of the largest civilian departments of the federal government. Its partnership with the Public Sector Retirement Educators shows the organization’s commitment to the retirement needs of federal employees.

A spokesperson for the organization said, “Our team of educators consists of former federal human resources professionals and trainers, along with knowledgeable financial professionals with decades of collective experience understanding federal and postal employee needs. We are continually adding new curricula and offering ongoing training to our affiliates to ensure they are up to date on any changes in your benefits.”
