The Dermysk Medical Aesthetics Academy (587-487-1249) near Edmonton, AB, has updated its courses to help new students access career training as an aesthetician, with no previous experience required, using a hybrid course structure that combines online learning and in-person training.

The Dermysk Medical Aesthetics Academy now offers several updated courses that allow new students to complete their training and certification as medical aestheticians, while doing most of their training at home, at their own pace.

More information about the updated courses, and a full list of procedures taught in each program, can be found at https://dermysk.com/pages/academy

The new courses are designed using lessons learned during the recent pandemic and have been optimized to help students complete their formal education from home before they attend hands-on training sessions at their nearest Dermysk Academy location. While individual experiences will vary, the updated classes can help students to become fully certified in up to a dozen medical aesthetic procedures, in as little as a few months.

In the updated Basic course, which requires only a high school diploma or some form of relevant work experience, students will learn about the science and biology behind popular procedures and the legal or regulatory considerations for their province. They will also receive practical training using a wide variety of aesthetician tools, so that they are confident, experienced, and ready to begin a new career after they graduate.

After completing the Basic training program, graduates will be fully certified in up to a dozen techniques, which may include laser hair or tattoo removal, photorejuvenation, pigmentation treatments, chemical peels, and a variety of advanced acne treatments. While this program allows students to immediately begin working in a medical aesthetic clinic after graduation, it also serves as the prerequisite for the Dermysk Academy’s Advanced program.

In the updated Advanced course, which requires either graduation from the Basic program or 5 years of industry experience, students will be trained and certified in complex procedures such as Cool Sculpting and stem cell treatments. This course also includes additional training for dealing with difficult customers, managing complications, and a variety of proven business strategies.

Though it is less commonly used, the Dermysk Academy has also updated its Master level course, which includes all the training included in the Basic and Advanced programs, as well as exclusive materials not found elsewhere. This course allows students to receive a Master Of Medical Aesthetics certification, while still completing most of their work online, before attending a two-week intensive hands-on training program.
