(Newswire.net — January 26, 2024) — From global politics to entertainment, 2023 opened a plethora of portentous events that influenced the year and might as well be the future.

A wild ride it was for some of the countries with India topping China as the most populous country in the World, the conflict in Israel, Bruce Willis getting diagnosed with dementia, and the actor Ke Huy Quan of the movie ‘Everything Every All at Once’ wins an Oscar among others.

It is an overrated statement, yes, but we are in touch with these events and there I am writing about them, thanks to the internet. A sound internet connection like the one from Kinetic Internet helps us connect from the West to the East.

Speaking of which, join me as we unfold a detailed look at these major events that shaped 2023.

The Israel Conflict

October 7 marked the date as the fierceness of the Israel issue exploded: an issue that used to be a conflict turned into a bloody war.

But who did start? On that very day, it was Hamas militants that flung through the walls of the Gaza Strip, entered the Israel territory, and killed around 1,200 people in Israel with about 200 hostages being taken.

Israel on the flip side wasn’t going to hold up and launched their response to the attack with full force of air strikes, and street fights while killing about 22,000 Palestinians and 58,000 injured. This response not only affected the ones injured and killed but it displaced the whole population of about 2 million people living in the Gaza strip.

The conflict has been condemned by the World for both parties but anyhow, it needs to be stopped for the sake of humanity.

Bruce Willis Was Diagnosed with Dementia

The beloved actor of Die Hard, The Sixth Sense, and Pulp Fiction among others was diagnosed with dementia. For those who don’t know, dementia is a mental sickness that affects personality, behavior, and language.

The actor retired from the work (acting) he loves in 2022 because of aphasia that affected his cognitive abilities.

It was his family that described his condition and terms his dementia as ‘aggressive’.

India Becoming the Most Populous Country in the World

India and China were the top two countries with the most population with China on top in 2022.

The birth rate in the South Asian country was growing immensely and it didn’t catch us by surprise that India might lead the world at least when it comes to the population.

According to a report from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs: “In April 2023, India’s population is expected to reach 1,425,775,850 people, matching and then surpassing the population of mainland China,” The report adds on:

“In 1971, China and India had nearly identical levels of total fertility, with just under 6 births per woman over a lifetime. Fertility in China fell sharply to fewer than 3 births per woman by the end of the 1970s (figure 3). By contrast, the fertility decline in India has been more gradual: it took three and a half decades for India to experience the same fertility reduction that occurred in China over just seven years in the 1970s,”

The current population of India to date is a whopping 1.43 Billion.

Pew Research Centre which is based in Washington, D.C. says that India’s population had a boost of a billion people since 1950 to the date the UN started gathering this information related to the population in the world.

Ke Huy Quan Winning an Oscar

Do you remember that Asian-looking child named Short Round who appeared in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and The Goonies? That was Ke Huy Quan as a child actor.

He disappeared from the big screens of Hollywood and then made a comeback with an Oscar-winning performance as the Best Supporting Actor in the movie ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’. I bet he wouldn’t have slept that night.

A little on the actor: he is originally from Vietnam but his parents moved to California keeping in view the current situation of the conflict in the region. But now he’s an American national.

OceanGate Goes Missing in the Sea

If you aren’t familiar with the name: OceanGate is a company that provides crewed submersibles for underwater exploration, tourism, industry, and research among others.

The company was ready to set out on a voyage with five people on board to explore the remaining wreck of the mighty Titanic. They charged two hundred and fifty grands from the passengers which included the CEO of the company Stockton Rush, a Pakistani businessman with his son, Shahzada and Suleman Dawood, British businessman Hamish Harding, and a French diver Paul Henri Nargeolet.

But little did they know that it was the last time they were going to see the water.

The Coast Guards later went on to find the wreck of the submarine that exploded due to the immense pressure of the water.

Summing Up

In the grand theater of A2023, each act, whether monumental or understated, played a crucial role in shaping the narrative of a remarkable year.

As we step into the uncharted pages of a new chapter, may the lessons learned and the moments cherished in 2023 guide us toward a future marked by unity, innovation, and the enduring spirit of humanity.
