(Newswire.net — September 25, 2020) — We have a plethora of different options for sharing photos. But one of the biggest issues we have is ensuring that the image quality doesn’t get compromised. For example, when you upload your photos to social media sites, you risk the chance of compromising the photo quality.

In fact, we suggest using specific sharing sites for your photos as opposed to your everyday social media sites.

But how do you share photos without compromising quality?

The best way is to do it through cloud storage. We’ve prepared this guide to show you the best options to share photos while maintaining their high quality.

The Best Way To Share Photos

The first step to do is to organize your photos on your computer. We suggest making folders for each of your albums, naming the photos, and storing them in the folders.

If you organize them, they are easier to access and for others to navigate when you share them.

Once you have organized them, here are the best ways to share photos:

1. AirDrop

If you have photos stored on your iOS device, you can share them easily with someone else who has an iOS device. You can read how to turn on AirDrop for this.

Have your Bluetooth on and ask your friend to turn on theirs. Then you highlight your photos (or albums) and choose the ‘Share’ option. One of the options will be AirDrop. You choose this option and then select the name of your friend’s iOS device that you want to share it to.

Be sure to only use this option if you are near the person whom you want to share photos with. AirDrop does risk the issue of someone else being able to access your iOS device.

2. iCloud

If you are a Mac user or take photos using your iOS device, you should take advantage of iCloud. An iCloud account provides you with 5 gigabytes of storage for free. For a low cost you can always upgrade to a higher amount of storage. If you use your iOS device to take photos, you can sync your device with your iCloud. This way your photos will automatically be added to your iCloud.

To do this, go to the Settings on your iOS device. Navigate to the “Photos”  section and then select “iCloud Photos.” Within this section, you will be able to toggle the option to automatically sync your photos. Once this is on, your photos will always sync when your iOS device is connected to Wi-Fi.

Make sure that you periodically check your iCloud to ensure that your photos have been synced. You should always double-check before you delete photos from your iOS device. You can read more about the difference between iOS and Android apps.  Once the photos have been synced, you can share the photos from your iCloud with others.

3. Google Drive

Google Drive is a great way to store photos without compromising quality. You can choose to share the photos with anyone who has a link or with specific people by inputting their email addresses.

Google Drive comes with 15 gigabytes for free so you can store several photos at once. Purchasing additional storage is affordable. Google Drive also lets you create folders for you to organize your photos. You can also ‘lock’ the photos and folders so they can’t be accessed.

4. Dropbox

This is a great cloud storage service that comes with 2 gigabytes for free. For only $15 per month, you can upgrade to 5 terabytes. As with Google Drive, you can organize photos within Dropbox’s interface – either on your computer or your mobile device. You can also lock and password-protect your photos to keep them secure.

When you need to share your photos, you can create a shareable link that anyone can access. You can also give them the option to download the photo. Or you can choose to share the photos with specific people, by entering their email addresses. This can be changed at any time if you want to remove their access.

5. Hightail

This is another option for uploading files and sharing them with a select group of people. Hightail offers a free option that stores up to 2 gigabytes of storage. The paid plans can store unlimited storage.

This is a great option if you are a professional photographer and need to share your photos with your collaborators. If you take a photo and then need to share them with others such as editors, models, or a printing company then Hightail is your best option.

Hightail is especially a great option for large companies that need to share photos with others. If you want to make sure that your photos are secure you want to go for Hightail and it will only share photos with whom you select.

These photos can be deleted at any time and you can also remove participants at will. If you just need a place to store your photos then Hightail is also a great option.

6. External Hard Drives and USB Drives

While cloud storage continues to rise in popularity, we shouldn’t forget the advantages of external hard drives and USB drives. These can store lots of photos and can be handed over to the people with whom you want to share photos with. You also don’t have to depend with an internet connection for uploading the photos.

Portable external hard drives can be found in sizes up to 4 terabytes at an affordable price. If you only need to share a few photos, you can opt for a USB drive that has 1 or 2 gigabytes of space.

Make sure that you choose a hard drive or USB drive that allows for password-protection. This way if it gets stolen or lost, it will be harder for others to access your photos. Make sure you personally hand over the hard drive or USB drive to the recipient of your photos.
