(Newswire.net — March 1, 2021) — Central stations are among the first to launch broadcasting services with Sinclair Broadcast Group and  NEXTGEN TV in Norfolk. NEXTGEN TV is a revolutionary technology in digital broadcasting involving TV stations like WTVZ-TV (MyNet), WVBT & WNLO-CD (FOX), and WAVY-TV (NBC).

NEXTGEN TV was developed and run on the same significant technology as digital applications, the internet, and other web services. The platform can support a broad range of features presently in development. For instance, it can support video (up to 4K), immersive audio, advanced emergency alerts, personalized viewing tools, and mobile device broadcasting.

Vital Broadcast Technology

The emergency alerts give rich media rather than simple text messages. NEXTGEN TV fully integrates 5G and other internet content that broadband delivers. NEXTGEN TV is currently one of the only vital broadcast technologies. The recent launch in the Norfolk Beach Market is among the country’s first. It follows a decade of developing new technology and months of preparation and planning by local stations. BitPath is responsible for building new data broadcasting services, coordinating efforts, and spearheading the four TV stations’ planning process.

The four stations will become part of BitPath’s broadcast data network charter members, which began in 2021. The involved stations have collaborated to ensure the present programming benefits all viewers. It doesn’t matter whether a user receives television service through satellite company, cable, or over-the-air. Those who depend on the antenna can rescan their TV sets to get full service. They can access the rescan instructions at fcc.gov/rescan. Satellite and cable subscribers don’t have to take any action.
