About Flavia
It’s no overstatement to say that Leal rebuilt her life from the ground up when she launched her beauty career over a decade ago. In 2000, she moved to the US to offer her family a better way of life and her true story started there.
Her early years in the country were not easy. She was a young single mother, a student, and an immigrant learning a new way of life. She worked 80-hour weeks, survived bankruptcy, the loss of an early business, and lost both of her parents in the year.
At many points, she looked at her life as simply surviving, not thriving. However, shortly after her beloved mother’s passing in 2009, she decided to re-enroll in beauty school and soon opened her first beauty school to honor her mom’s memory.
By 2011, she already had a second location, and an eponymous cosmetics line would follow soon after.
Her Life’s Mission
Some of Leal’s favorite words of wisdom are “Life makes sense when you are helping others.” This life’s mission gets her out of bed and ready to take on the world daily. She faces the days with a heart of servitude and a desire to help women grow their own dreams and unique gifts.
Today, she is more than a school owner. She’s a renowned beauty expert and motivational speaker who appears at events worldwide, from Paris to Vienna and beyond.
Another of her favorite sayings, which she uses at conferences and appearances as well as one-on-one with her students, is “Do what you have to do, not what you want to do.” She explained further by saying, “When our minds get tired, we don’t want to open the door because of what is on the other side, but we have to do these things to grow.”
These words often inspire her students to power through to the end of a long day of classes or workshops.

The Flavia Leal Beauty School was built with the aim of welcoming women who have not been accepted elsewhere. From students needing financial scholarships to those creating a career late in life to those new in this country and trying to make a future for their children, Leal prides herself on seeing them, hearing them, and helping them.
