A New Harry Potter Theory That Could Ruin Childhoods

(Newswire.net — July 15, 2015) — The planetary success of the Harry Potter series is due to the fantastic adventures that are appealing to both, children and adults. However, for some fans, there is another story beneath the obvious one, according to tickld.com blog.

In the real world, the main protagonist experienced the real psychological trauma of losing both parents and has to cope with it while living in a small room beneath the stairs in the house of his not so loving aunt and uncle. Instead of having magical powers, the boy actually suffers from a trauma-induced mental illness and is delusional, according to a different insight.

Another approach is that Dursleys are the boy’s real parents; however, they can’t cope with his mental illness. The time when in the ‘real’ world, Harry suffers abusive behavior and after he reacted one day, he was institutionalized in a place crowded with people just like him.

According to the blog author’s theory, the “storyline is a coded explanation of a delusional boy that is starting to engage in violent outbursts, and is sent to an mental institution as a result. Every that happens after, he becomes increasingly detached from reality, and what we see, as the audience, is his delusion, which is re-casting of his institutionalization experience into a kind of adventure.”

Posting explanations for his claims, the blog author in one example referring to the fact that the school is actually locked, and filled with “insane” dangers that would be considered ‘normal’ in a mental institution.

“The Goblet of Fire contest has students compete against each other in competitions that are openly life-threatening, which is what students at a school for violent, mentally-disturbed children experience on a regular basis,” author wrote.

The fifth book opens with ‘Dementors’ attacking Harry’s brother/cousin Dudley in an event visible only to him, thus he was accused and stands before Ministers for using his magic on a ‘normal’, or what his ill mind projected as a twisted reality of him facing a trial for seriously hurting Dudley. Then, all the monstrosity of ‘Azkaban’ prison opens, “heavily associated with insanity.”

Allegedly, through each episode Harry is fighting with his deviated alter-ego in the form of “Voldemort” that at the beginning is visible only to him. When Voldemort killed Cedric Diggery who is a popular, successful boy, no one actually believed Harry’s delusion because everyone knows he is the murderer.

As the final proof that Harry Potter is a story of delusional mental patient, the author highlights the moment in the movie when Harry meets Dumbledore in the imagined Kings Cross station. “Tell me one last thing,” Harry said. “Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?”

“Of course it is happening in your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” Dumbledore replied.

Understanding the message that real is what we believe is real, we may choose to believe that Harry is a gifted hero with magic powers, fighting demons in parallel dimension… or not.
