Children Copy More from Their Surroundings than Ever

(Newswire.net — November 20, 2015) — According to one of the wittiest men in Serbia, Dusko Radovic, one of the most dreadful things that can happen to a parent is when they see that their children start reminding them of themselves. It is usually noticed first in small things like sudden movements, gestures, looks and habits. It can be amusing at first, but if it becomes clear that a particular trait is going to stick, something should be done about it.

There are some other dreadful things in a parents’ life – toys and cartoons. It seems that these two come in a package and are inevitable, but like in any jungle, much beauty and danger can be found. Toys for very small children are usually big; some even bigger than the children themselves, but what children do with them, does not often correspond with the original idea of what that particular toy is for.

Not so many generations before, when Tom and Jerry were in their prime, many children did not even realize how aggressive they actually were, but today’s children do not have a problem with that. Even at the tender age of two, they can very precisely chop off their teddy’s head or toss it in the toilet and flush it or keep it under water as long as they want. There are even more morbid cases, like using bleach or drain solvent on the toys. Some of the most horrifying events came from watching Teletubbies, which was a very educational cartoon according to some experts, or made for mentally challenged children according to others. Be as it may, there were children who threw themselves in a well, as it was shown in one of the episodes.

Boys’ toys are still made to look as tough and ugly as they can, with all the additional sorts of weapons based on their TV versions. Girls’ toys, on the other hand, are not typically aggressive, but it can easily be noticed that there is something wrong when your dear two-year-old daughter starts to demand some dreadful color outfit, nail polish and suddenly rejects her usual amount of food. It is possible that she saw it from her mom, but it is more likely that she copies one of the Winxies, Ponies, Frozen characters or girls from her daycare. There are many educational toys on the market, too, but these previous ones still prevail.

While parents are stressed, inattentive and preoccupied with their work, sometimes it is much easier to please their children by buying them a popular toy or letting them watch the atrocities in cartoons than spend some quality time with them. But, don’t worry, game and cartoon industries work 24/7.
