(Newswire.net — April 9, 2017) — MMA welterweight Colby Covington was on a good path to climb the steep ladder of success in UFC fighting, however, not all dreams come true.
A video that was widely shared on social networks show Covington on a street holding a cardboard saying “Will fight for food.” Covington himself shared the video on Twitter, arguing ”How am I suppose to eat if everyone is ducking me!???”
Since he recorded his third consecutive win with a unanimous decision against Bryan Barberena at UFC, Covington (11-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) has been striving for a fight in the 170-pound division that would set his way to fortune and glory.
Covington looked ahead to fight a former UFC lightweight champ, Rafael dos Anjos (25-9 MMA, 14-7 UFC), but had no luck. Time has passed by and no one wanted to book a fight with Covington. His fellow welterweight fighters are still avoiding him.
Now Covington aka “Chaos” is literally begging for an opportunity to fight.
Covington, 29, recently caught the attention of the MMA community by posting fake emails in attempt to boost a fight with dos Anjos. No luck there either, but at least he gained a lot of laughs tweeting “Looks like the little diva @RdosAnjosMMA left his email open in an Apple Store.”
It is questionable whether someone would fight Covington after watching this video, but the fighter made entering the Octagon arena into a matter of life and death.
“Just want to take this time to say F U to all the ranked @ufc welterweights dodging me and robbing me of a brighter future!” Covington tweeted.
Born in California, Covington “Chaos” boosted his MMA carrier when he moved to South Florida to train at the acclaimed American Top Team. He turned professional in 2012, compiling a record of 5-0 before signing with the UFC in the summer of 2014.
In his professional UFC career, he won 11 out of 12 matches he fought. The only loss he recorded was against Warlley Alves in 2015, when Alves managed to pull a “guillotine choke” on Chaos, forcing him to forfeit.
After the fight with Alves, Covington entered the Octagon only three more times, and won all subsequent matches. Covington’s last UFC fight took place in December 2016.
