Haley: The US Does Not Need UN Approval to Act in Syria

(Newswire.net— April 10, 2018) — The US envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley said that the US would act against the “monster” Assad, and it will do this without the approval of the UN, in a speech at UN’s Security Council.

The urge for military attacks against Assad’s regime came after Western-backed “White Helmets” reported on the use of chemical weapons against civilians in the Damascus suburb of Douma. The White Helmets, supposedly an independent NGO, receives up to $100m from the CIA and UK Foreign Office, “dark project” funding, The South Front reports.

“We are beyond showing pictures of dead babies. We are beyond appeals to conscience. We have reached the moment when the world must see justice done,” Nikki Haley said accusing Russia for backing Assad, a “monster” who is “murdering children with chemical weapons.”

“The Russian regime, whose hands are all covered with the blood of Syrian children, cannot be ashamed by pictures of its victims. We’ve tried that before,” Haley went on.

The Russia’s ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia replied saying that the attack was staged. Russian soldiers were actually investigating the event alongside Assad’s troops and discovered no trace of chemical weapons. The investigation concluded the whole event was staged to produce “fake news.”

The scenario actually resembles a prior one where the US attacked and dismantled Iraq. The same way, Sadam Hussein was described by Western media as a “Monster, butcher and the baby killer.” After the Iraq war, no chemical weapons were found but the event caused the birth of the Islamic State (former ISIL or ISIS) which was one of the deadliest terrorist organizations in modern history.

Now, the same vocabulary Nikki Haley uses to qualify the Syrian president Assad as monstrous, saying the US has the moral obligation to correct the UN Security Council’s alleged numbness.

“History will record this as the moment when the Security Council either discharged its duty or demonstrated its utter and complete failure to protect the people of Syria. Either way, the United States will respond,” she said.

The US first acted without the UN approval attacking Serbia in 1999 after first intervening in the civil war sponsored by the NATO countries that destroyed Yugoslavia. Next, the invasion on Iraq in 2003 and destroying Libya in 2011.

Meanwhile, Russia said enough is enough and decided to intervene in Syria by supporting Assad’s regime. This lead to a new cold war and tensions between US and Russia are as tense as never before.

“What [the] military misadventures of the West bring about is well known, as shown by the examples of Yugoslavia, Iraq and Libya,” the UN envoy Nebenzia said. “Nobody has vested you with the power to act like the world’s policeman, or to act like the prosecutor, judge, and executioner either,” he added.

“Everywhere you go, everything you touch, you leave behind only chaos. You try to fish in those murky waters, but the only thing you catch is mutants,” Nebenzia added.
