(Newswire.net — April 11, 2018) — European air traffic control issues alert over ‘possible air strikes on Syria within 72 hours,’ news agencies reported.

The NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) alert, is issued as the US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman accompanied by seven warships, including a ‘missile destroyer’ and probably a nuclear submarine, enters the Mediterranean Sea.

“Due to the possible launch of air strikes into Syria with air-to-ground and / or cruise missiles within the next 72 hours, and the possibility of intermittent disruption of radio navigation equipment, due consideration needs to be taken when planning flight operations in the Eastern Mediterranean / Nicosia FIR area,” the alert said.

The US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he was “very strongly, very seriously” considering military action against Bashar Assad’s regime as a response to the alleged chemical attack in Douma.

The US’s resolution on Syria at the UN Security Council was vetoed by Russia who asked for additional time until an independent team is able to investigate the allegations. Nikki Haley stated earlier that US does not need the UN approval to act.

Moscow, however, adamantly claims the alleged chemical attack is just one in a series of false flag stunts sponsored by the US in order to do what they want, regardless of the international law. The Russian envoy to the UN said on Tuesday that he believes the common sense will prevail in what he called the “political game.”

The US President Donald Trump said that a “major decision” would be taken within the following 24-48 hours. The global policy analyzers say that Trump is trapped in a lose-lose position. If he orders strikes, he demonstrates decisiveness but risks starting WWIII. On the other hand, if he backs down, his presidency will not survive the attacks from the Democrats. The only way out for Trump would be to green light a surgical attack that wouldn’t cause any serious damage. This attack, however, could be extremely dangerous because eventual Russian military casualties would propel immediate response.

Russia has warned that if any of its personnel in the country are targeted, it “will take response measures against both the rockets, and the platforms from which they’re fired,” which means the whole US fleet in Mediterranean Sea could be in danger.
