The three day event will run its course through the 21st to the 23rd of February, 2014. This eventing promises to give spectators, judges, residents, riders and even the participating horses the once in a blue moon equestrian experience.Thomson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is a major sponsor of the event presenting the 2014 Ram truck class.
The town of Thomson, most popularly known for its thousands of camellia plants, and its almost 7000 residents are all well poised to play host to this show of courage, endurance and harmony between the riders and their various horses.
The organizers of this event revealed that the first day will be for the Dressage competition; physically and mentally strong horses will be given the opportunity to display their gracefulness, confidence and precision on this day. Subsequent events as laid down by the organizers include the cross country and show jumping which will showcase both the quality and quantity of rhythm between the competitors in surmounting barriers, both natural and man- made. These events are borne out of the natural ability and need of horses to jump barriers while trailing fox hounds on shooting sport or hunting.
The Pine Top Farm in Thomson, Georgia which will serve as the arena for the competition is an eight generation family farm which is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. One of the America’s pioneer in eventing sites, it is made up of its gently rolling fields with various natural obstacles providing the most desirable footing, turf and atmosphere for a super horse show.
“ The standard of the Thomson eventing is similar to what is obtainable at the Rolex competitions and even in the Olympics” said one of the organizers of the show. He further stated that the best judges that have presided over important eventings will be on ground to add fairness and equity to the sport.
