A new website styled to assist new culinary arts students in learning more about cooking careers has opened up its doors in Georgia.

The www.GeorgiaCookingClasses.com site has a mission to help visitors learn a little more about jobs and education options inside the professional chef industry around the state of Georgia.

The web site’s publisher Roberta Turner mentioned that the most widely used area of their web site was the class exploration element which permits readers to browse through institutions and education programs based on their location or where they would prefer to attend classes.

“I think the culinary field can be a great choice for quite a few people,” stated Turner, “And especially for individuals who want to get started in a new job in a relatively short period of time. There are a lot of people who can’t commit to spending four years at a university.”

“Obviously, the main occupations in this field are in food and meal preparation,” continued Turner, “Most positions involve working in a kitchen. And while beginning chefs need to know a variety of basic information before they get started, such as food safety and basic kitchen operations, many of the skills that chefs really need are practiced on the job through repetition and observing and copying the techniques of other chefs.”

“And for people who don’t want to spend their career in a kitchen, there are plenty of management positions in the hospitality field as well,” concluded Turner, “However, unless you already have a good deal of experience, you will most likely need to have a bachelor’s degree in order to get started.”

Turner mentioned that their site is free to use by anyone. Visitors do not need to sign up in order to use it.
