(Newswire.net — March 25, 2014)  — The news that Bandy, whose career as a session guitarist began with Ricardo Lopez’ 1963 hit “If I Had a Million Dollar Bills My Lady,” would be detailing his 50 year career with an autobiography was viewed by rock historians as a potentially landmark moment.

“We are talking about a guy was has worked with nearly every major musician from the 1960’s on,” said Neal Frederickson, a music historian from California. “What he may be able to reveal or elaborate on could be truly important for rock history. I’m really thrilled to hear this.”

True to his humble reputation, Bandy downplayed the autobiography’s potential place in rock and roll history, saying, “I am doing this because I want my life to have a record of sorts. When I am too old to remember, or after I am gone, I want this to show my family what I was able to help others accomplish during my lifetime.”

Bandy would not reveal any of the stories that he would include, saying only that he “will be completely and totally honest throughout.” Of much interest to the rock world is Bandy’s alleged involvement in the legendary “Ripslide Tour” with Sonny McCallister in Detroit.

According to Frederickson, “He was among those present during the ripslide incident. The story goes that Bandy was recording with another band in Detroit when Jimmy Roberts, a friend of Bandy’s from a recording session with the Podunk Captains, invited Terry to go to dinner in downtown Detroit near the band’s hotel. The rest is fairly well-documented, but completely unverified. I am interested to see if Terry will discuss this in the autobiography.”

Both Frederickson and McCallister have denied the incident ever occurred, but so many others have insisted on its validity that those denials have been largely ignored. Bandy was coy when asked about the story, saying, “How can I tell you what is included in a book that has not yet been written? I’ll let you know in a few months.”

The publisher has yet to be announced, but Bandy indicated that the book has been picked up. He expects it to be released December 19th, 2014.
