(Newswire.net — April 6, 2016) Seattle, WA — A new website designed to help people find a local certified public accountant is live on the Web starting today.

The CPA Shopper website provides some basic advice and tips regarding how to select a local accounting office for your personal or business needs.

The site’s editor, Ian Phi, said he hopes his new site will enable readers to browse available accounting offices and narrow down their choices to a manageable number.

“Picking an accountant to work with is a pretty important decision, because most people tend to stick with the same accountant year after year,” stated Phi, “So, you’re not just picking a guy for right now, you’re picking a guy you will probably end up going to every year for the next decade or even longer.”

“In my experience, most accountants are perfectly qualified, do their jobs well and are nice to work with,” continued Phi, “After all, their jobs require them to sit down and talk about important issues with their clients and answer their questions, so if they aren’t able to do that very well, they tend to gravitate into a different type of position, such as private accounting.”

“The three main issues most people are concerned with when looking for an accountant are location, price and firm size,” said Phi, “The location of the firm is usually obvious, but the cost and firm size may be harder to ascertain. Most potential clients end up narrowing down their choices to just two or three firms, and then call each one in order to get a better idea of what the cost of their particular project might be.”

CPAs Are Highly Trained

Because certified public accountants need to complete a minimum of formal education requirements, including passing the CPA Exam, almost all accountants will have the technical knowledge to help individuals with common personal tax and financial issues, so selecting the right individual or office to work with often comes down to other issues, such as location, availability and a few intangibles.

“If someone is operating a public accounting business, you can be pretty confident they know what they’re doing with regards to most basic personal finance and tax issues,” Phi said, “But if you are a business or you have some unusual situation that has tax or other financial implications, you may want to find a person who has specific knowledge in that unusual topic area.”

“People generally want to do business with someone they like and go to an office they feel comfortable at,” he concluded, “For a lot of people, a smaller office that is easy to drive to and park at is where they feel comfortable visiting. Some people don’t like going to a fancy office in a downtown location where they have to pay for parking. On the other hand, if you need a special CPA for a specific business issue, that type of accountant may be found only at a big firm in a big city.”

Phi mentioned he is interested in hearing from people regarding their experience with any local accounting office. He indicated that anyone who wants to leave a review is invited to do so. For more details, you can visit http://www.CPAShopper.com.
