(Newswire.net — November 9, 2016) Overland Park, Kansas — Akshay Anands Karats owner discusses the recent updates with Amazon’s grocery delivery service, AmazonFresh, and shares his thoughts on it. His business, Karats, is a leading jewelry and watch retailer in Kansas City, and has been voted as the no. 1 engagement store in the city. A successful business owner, Akshay is always updated on his city’s current events and regularly gives back to the community. Just recently, Akshay urged KC citizens to volunteer for CASA, an organization whose mission is to empower neglected and abused children with a volunteer’s voice in court by finding a safe and permanent home for every child.

Amazon has considerably expanded its grocery delivery service, launching in numerous locations including northern Virginia, Boston, Baltimore, and London, and expanding service in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, West Virginia and northern California. Just recently, AmazonFresh expanded to new cities, including Chicago and Dallas. With news of AmazonFresh coming to KC, Akshay says that many of KC citizens are excited for the service to become available, especially since they find going to the grocery to be a huge hassle. With AmazonFresh, shoppers can combine grocery shopping and other shopping into a single experience that fits easily into their busy everyday lives. They can order a broad array of items, including vegetables, fruits, meat, seafood, dairy products, baked goods and even beauty products and household items. The service offers same-day and next-day delivery, and shoppers can select between attended and unattended delivery. Shoppers can order their groceries in the morning and have them delivered as soon as that same evening, or order at night time and have the groceries delivered the next morning.

Along with AmazonFresh’s expansion to Chicago and Dallas, Amazon also announced a new monthly payment option—$14.99 per month for members of their $99-per-year Prime loyalty program. Before this, the grocery delivery service was priced at $299 annually and already included Prime membership. According to Anand, this recent change in pricing structure will lure more KC citizens to AmazonFresh.

Amazon has been working on expanding their grocery delivery service since 2007 and is targeting the $650 billion grocery industry. Although grocery is a tough business with low margins, Anand believes that Amazon’s near-decade of experimentation gives them the expertise and scale that will allow them to fine tune the service and at the same time accelerate the rollout into other locations.
