(Newswire.net — June 14, 2022) Orlando, FL — Experts have been investigating Covid-19 and its correlation with other diseases, including those affecting the brain.

According to a group, which represents more than 100 Alzheimer’s and dementia associations worldwide, there might be an impending wave of dementia and additional Covid-19 cases.

The Alzheimer’s Disease International urges the World Health Organization and governments around the globe to “urgently fast track research on the potential impact of COVID-19 on increasing dementia rates.”

The pandemic shows strong potential in causing a significant increase in the number of dementia patients on a long-term basis.

Some research studies have revealed that Covid-19 infections may increase one’s likelihood of developing dementia. Further, it’s found that dementia symptoms may appear earlier.

Interestingly enough, the London-based group revealed that the rates of dementia may temporarily drop. This is due to the high number of deaths of individuals with dementia from Covid-19.

It is worth mentioning that between 25 to 45 percent of all COVID-19 deaths are estimated to be of those with dementia.

Experts are still carrying out studies to look into the various aspects of dementia. It is highly recommended to resort to measures helpful in keeping the brain healthy and strong. There are many remedies helpful for brain health protection, such as making healthy dietary and lifestyle improvements. There are also medicinal ingredients like lion’s mane found particularly useful.

In various studies, the lion’s mane has been able to demonstrate its ability to offer protection against dementia. Scientists found two special compounds in this edible and medicinal mushroom that work in stimulating brain cell growth, namely hericenones and erinacines.

In animal studies involving the use of this remedy, it’s also been found to ward off an extremely common neurodegenerative brain disease called Alzheimer’s disease that leads to progressive memory loss. There have actually been many research studies revealing the dementia-fighting benefits of this remedy. In one involving mice, its use led to a decrease in symptoms of memory loss. It even worked in preventing neuronal damage triggered by amyloid-beta plaques, which accumulate in the brain during Alzheimer’s disease.

Another study was carried out and it involved older adults with mild cognitive impairment. It’s been found that intake of 3 grams of powdered lion’s mane mushroom every day for four months significantly enhanced mental functioning.
