High Protein Diets Come With Normal Side Effects

(Newswire.net — March 18, 2018) Cheyenne, Wyoming — It’s always exciting to learn of a super charged weight loss diet plan but many fail to understand that the body will have to do some adjusting. The keto diet is no exception to this universal concept of change and adaptation. This is certainly not a diet for diabetics as its basis of ketosis is not compatible with the diabetes condition but for everyone else, keto diet is fair game.

“Ketosis is when your body is preferentially burning ketones for fuel, instead of sugar,” states LiveStrong.com. “This state should not be confused with diabetic ketosis or keto-acidosis. Ketones are produced when your body is burning fat instead of glycogen. Glycogen, or sugar, is what is referred to as your body’s “preferred” fuel, but your body will burn ketones when there is not enough glycogen to meet your metabolic demands.”

So when the body is strategically starved or merely restricted to little carbohydrates, it is forced to turn to using ketones as a source of energy and this is only done through burning fat. Understanding just how various food contributes to nutritional value and the achievement of dietary goals helps one in making a better selection of the keto diet.

“Foods that are generally allowed include high-fat meats, fish, oils, nuts, high-fat dairy such as cheese, and low-carb vegetables,” says BBC Good Food. “Unsurprisingly, reducing carb levels means cutting out bread, pasta, rice, and most conventional baked goods. However, achieving such low levels of carbs also means skipping legumes, root vegetables, select fruits and starchy veggies, such as potatoes.”

As such, there are side effects to expect, most common are leg cramps, constipation, bad breath and feeling lethargic. The first week of the keto diet can be pretty dramatic as even flu like symptoms may be experienced during the initial transitional phase which lasts about 2-4 days. It gives new meaning to beauty knows no pain if one is willing to sit it through as the body is being deprogrammed and reprogrammed to function on a different source of fuel.

“Headaches are very common during this transition, as is feeling tired, lethargic and unmotivated,” says DietDoctor.com. “Nausea is also common. It’s also possible to experience confusion or “brain fog” – feeling not smart at all. Finally, it’s common to feel irritable – perhaps most clearly experienced by the rest of your family. The good news is that these symptoms usually disappear by themselves within a few days.”

Thankfully, staying hydrated with salt and water is a sure fix to most, if not all, of the side effects, which are temporary, for many people. If one wishes to play it smart, it’s advised to start drinking a salt and water solution prior to the onset of the side effects as being proactive can actually circumvent them all together. The HealthyWiser™ KetoFast™ Supplement Powder is a good way to incorporate ketones without necessarily committing to the strict dietary restrictions of the keto diet.
