Little Miracles Rutherford, a Rutherford based leading childcare centre, announced the launch of the Flying Start Transition to school program that runs in term 3, starting on the 21st of July, and in term 4 for children who are entering school next year. The aim of this new program is to extend children’s existing knowledge and assist them in building abilities, confidence and behaviours that will support them as they transition into school so they will have a “Flying Start”.

For children in the year before starting formal schooling preparation is vital. The transition into school represents a major step in a child’s life and it is important that early learning services provide children with the opportunity to share their personal feelings and experiences during this transition phase.

The Flying Start Transition to school program by Little Miracles Rutherford Pty Ltd includes daily-programmed activities and experiences encouraging the developmental skills that are optimal for children to retain before commencing school. This school readiness program prepares the child to enter kindergarten, providing them with confidence when they reach school.

The program covers the two main skills needed to learn, pre-reading and pre-writing. This includes writing their name, using scissors, looking after their own belongings, following instructions, rotating table activities, and more.

Other skills children will learn during the program include social and emotional skills, effective communication skills, development of self-help and independence, a positive disposition towards learning, gaining confidence to try new things, and being part of a group learning experience.

A satisfied parent said: “I’ve watched my son over the past four years at Little Miracles and how he has become such a confident and beautiful young man. I absolutely believe the care and dedication that Little Miracles have provided for Trey whilst he has been in your care has largely contributed to who he is today.”
