A Study Found a Link Between Disrupted Sleep and Increased Risk of Early Death

(Newswire.net — July 12, 2021) Orlando, FL — Various research studies have demonstrated that sleep is vital for disease protection. Scientists have also time and again demonstrated the link between sleep and death.

This is demonstrated in a study published in the European Heart Journal.

This study has been able, for the first time, to show a clear association between the duration and frequency of unconscious wakefulness during night-time sleep and the heightened odds of dying from the disease of the heart and blood vessels, as well as death from any cause.

According to the researchers, these findings were particularly true in women. They specifically revealed that women who experienced unconscious wakefulness for longer periods of time and most often had almost doubled their risk from dying due to cardiovascular disease compared to the risk in the general female population.

This study involved 8001 men and women and a follow-up of an average of between 6 and 11 years. Further, it has been found that the link was less clear in men. It’s been found their cardiovascular death risk increased by just more than a quarter compared to the general male population.

It is worth noting that cortical arousal, which is also known as unconscious wakefulness, is a normal part of sleep. It spontaneously occurs and is actually a part of the body’s ability to notice possibly dangerous situations.

Some triggers are noise, breathing obstruction, trauma, limb movements, pain, temperature, and light.

This research was made in a collaboration between a team led by associate professor Mathias Baumert from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Adelaide (Australia) and Prof. Linz.

The investigating team looked into data obtained from sleep monitors worn overnight by the subjects who took part in one of three studies. These are 2782 men in the Osteoporotic Fractures in Men Sleep Study (MrOS), 424 women in the Study of Osteoporotic Fractures (SOF), and 2221 men and 2574 women in the Sleep Heart Health Study (SHHS).

Scientists are increasingly carrying out studies to look into the ways helpful for both sleep and longevity. It is worth keeping in mind that some nutrients like B vitamins are particularly found helpful.

Studies have shown intake of certain B vitamins is helpful in enhancing sleep quality and quantity. It is also important to note B vitamins are linked with disease-fighting benefits. They can be obtained through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex.

It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6 (www.amazon.com/dp/B07414752B).
