Twin Study Now Suggests Heart Health Influences the Brain

(Newswire.net — August 3, 2021) Orlando, FL — For decades, scientists have been investigating the ways to help protect and improve brain health. It is worth mentioning that in some studies, it has been found the heart actually has a role to play in brain health.

Scientists from Emory University carried out a twin study.

It is worth noting that twin studies are a special type of epidemiological study that lets researchers look into the overall role of genes and environment in a behavioral trait or disorder.

In this research, it has been found good heart health can lead to good brain health.

The findings of this research were published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s disease.

According to the American Heart Association, ideal cardiovascular health (CVH) is defined across seven modifiable risk factors. These are blood sugar, serum cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index, physical activity, diet, and cigarette smoking.

The investigators revealed that higher CVH scores are linked with better heart health and reduced odds of cardiovascular disease.

In previous studies, it has been found that ideal CVH can benefit brain health as well as cognitive aging. However, it has remained unclear how the environment and genes influenced the link between cognitive decline and cardiovascular risk factors.

According to senior author Viola Vaccarino MD, Ph.D., their study across the entire sample of twins confirmed that better CVH is associated with better cognitive health in several domains.

Vaccarino is Wilton Looney Professor of Cardiovascular Research, Rollins School of Public Health, and professor, division of cardiology, Emory University School of Medicine.

“The analyses further suggested that familial factors shared by the twins explain a large part of the association and thus could be important for both cardiovascular and brain health,” she adds.

Today, more and more researchers are carrying out studies to investigate the various healing effects of natural remedies for the brain. Interestingly, a spice called turmeric has been found to have the ability to reduce brain fog, boost memory function, and improve overall cognition.

There have been previous research studies revealing that the curcumin turmeric contains has various healing effects.

It has adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, antiproliferative, antiviral, renoprotective, and metal-chelating properties.

It also contains anticoagulants, antioxidants, anti-amyloidogenic, anti-cytotoxic, antibiotics, antimicrobial, anti-purulent, and anti-catabolic agents.

These healing agents are linked with many benefits for human health. Today, there are many health experts who strongly recommend the use of supplements like Divine Bounty Curcumin for preventive health purposes (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
