10 Ways to Get More Followers on Instagram

(Newswire.net — November 5, 2021) —

It’s been two months since I started my Instagram account and I have recently hit a major milestone: 1,000 instagram followers!

I know this isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it felt awesome. And to top if off, I still have about 5 times more people who have yet to follow me.

So how did I get my first 1,000 followers on Instagram? Here are 10 ways I did it:

1. Post Genuine Photos That Tell A Story

I’m sure some people will disagree with me on this one… But I don’t think adding a caption to each photo (or worse yet, including cheesy quotes!) is necessary. If you want to convey a message or tell a story, I think it’s best to let the photo do the talking.

Although finding photos that perfectly capture your thoughts/feelings can take time, it’s always more rewarding in the end. Your followers will appreciate getting just pure images without all of that extra “fluff.”

2. Keep It Real

Honestly, it’s not realistic for me to think I’ll be able to hit 10k followers overnight. It takes time and effort to grow an Instagram account, but luckily the process can be extremely fun! With that said, don’t get discouraged if you aren’t completely killing it on your first day. Go with the flow and see where it takes you.

3. Interact With Other Users

I try to interact with people who follow me by liking their photos, commenting on them, and following them if they haven’t yet. This has become one of my favorite hobbies because I get to see how creative all of you are!

Sometimes interacting with other users can be time-consuming but it’s always worth it in the end. Little do you know that I am often on Instagram for HOURS trying to catch up on all of your posts…

4. Use Hashtags Sparingly (But Effectively!)

Hashtags are HUGE on Tumblr and Google +, but something I’ve noticed about Instagram is that many people tend to overuse hashtags… I mean, you don’t want to come off as spammy and desperate for follows, right?

I use between 3-5 hashtags on all of my posts, but sometimes I will let it slide if there is one or two that really go well with the image. Just consider how your photo might look to someone who doesn’t follow any of the hashtags you’ve used. For example, if you have a photo that is obviously related to #motivation , #inspiration , or #quotes , but then include #fashion and #cats in your caption, it can seem very odd and confusing for those who don’t follow those tags.

5. Use Photos With High “Likes-To-Follower Ratio”

This is a tip that I have picked up from multiple sources and have found it to be quite effective. Although the best way to get likes is still through interactions with other users, using photos with a lot of comments can help too!

For example, let’s pretend that there’s a picture of yours with three comments and 1000 likes. This would definitely stand out to a potential follower because it shows them how popular your photos can be… And if they want to become one of those 1000, they have to follow you!

6. Ask Your Friends/Family To Follow You

This is something that I find especially useful. If you have family or friends who are also on Instagram, ask them to follow your account! Sometimes they might be hesitant at first but it really doesn’t hurt to try.

7. Use Tumblr/Google+ To Promote Your Account

Although this is not the number one way that I got my first 1,000 followers, I feel like it definitely helped. If you want to promote your Instagram account on Tumblr/Google+, be sure to take photos that are related to specific themes (ex:  #tumblr , #travel , #photography ).

8. Create Your Own Hashtag

Creating your own hashtag is one of the best ways to get more followers quickly. Once your friends and other users see that you’re using a specific hashtag, they might start following too. It’s important to use an original and creative hashtag for this to work out effectively (ex: #shelooksgreatinbluehair ).

9. Use Hashtags That Are Relevant To Your Account

Although I said earlier that it isn’t good to overuse hashtags, it is definitely okay if you want to use them in your bio. Just be sure that the hashtags are relevant to your account!

10. Stay Active And Have Fun!

Last but not least, remain active and have fun! I cannot stress how important this is because if you’re not enjoying yourself, why should anyone else? So get out there and start taking some great photos!
