Research Points to the Relevance of Clean Air for Brain Health Maintenance

(Newswire.net — July 28, 2022) Orlando, FL — Over the years, researchers have been looking into the techniques potentially helpful in fighting brain health issues like Alzheimer’s disease.

Two USC researchers are highlighting the indications that cleaner air can actually make a difference in brain health. It is worth noting that these investigators have been revealing a link between air pollution and the greater odds of having Alzheimer’s disease and faster cognitive decline.

The findings of this research may be found in Alzheimer’s & Dementia: The Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association.

It is worth noting that cars and factories actually produce PM2.5, which is a fine particulate matter previously linked with memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease.

According to experts, it comes smaller than the width of a human hair but poses a big problem especially when inhaled. When this happens, PM2.5 goes from the nose up and into the brain. It goes beyond the blood-brain barrier that normally offers protection

The investigators were able to describe how their labs each independently revealed indications of recent reductions in the neurotoxicity of PM2.5 air pollution in both mice and humans. It is worth noting that neurotoxicity pertains to damage affecting the brain or nervous system produced by exposure to toxic substances.

The researchers were University Professor Caleb Finch and associate professor of gerontology and sociology Jennifer Ailshire, both with the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology.

The findings of this study were published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

The investigators tried to see the link in between long-term exposure to PM2.5 and premature death, particularly in individuals with chronic heart or lung diseases.

“Improving air quality around the country has been a tremendous public health and environment policy success story. But there are signs of a reversal in these trends,” Ailshire said.

“Pollution levels are creeping up again and there are increasingly more large fires, which generate a significant amount of air pollution in certain parts of the country. This gives me cause for concern about future trends in improving air quality.”

Many people today are exposed to polluted air and toxins on a daily basis. The good news is that while exposure to these can be difficult to avoid, there are ways to reduce the body’s toxic burden.

One is to detoxify the system through the use of activated charcoal, which continues to be a popular subject of research.

The impressive therapeutic effects of this ingredient may be obtained through Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal. It is crafted in a facility inspected by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines. (amazon.com/Organic-Activated-Charcoal-Capsules-Whitening/dp/B071NZ5G56)
