Meal Timing Could Lessen Type 2 Diabetes Risk Factors

(Newswire.net — September 12, 2022) Orlando, FL — Scientists have long been studying on the impacts of meal timing on weight management and overall health. Some studies have even found a link in between meal timing and disease onset.

One study has shown that those who start eating before 8:30 a.m. had reduced blood sugar levels and less insulin resistance. This, according to experts, helps reduce the odds of type 2 diabetes.

The research was presented virtually at ENDO 2021, the Endocrine Society’s annual meeting.

“We found people who started eating earlier in the day had lower blood sugar levels and less insulin resistance, regardless of whether they restricted their food intake to less than 10 hours a day or their food intake was spread over more than 13 hours daily,” said lead researcher Marriam Ali, M.D., of Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill.

It is worth keeping in mind that insulin resistance happens when the body is unable to respond well to the insulin produced by the pancreas. It is also characterized by glucose is less able to enter the cells.

According to the researchers, those with insulin resistance may potentially be at an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes. It is also important to stress that both insulin resistance and high levels of blood sugar impact one’s metabolism.

It also affects the breaking down of food to its simpler components, and these include proteins, carbohydrates (or sugars), and fats. Experts say that diabetes and other metabolic disorders occur when there are disruptions in these normal processes.

In this study, the investigators analyzed data from 10,575 adults who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

More studies are still being carried out to look into the effects of meal timing and overall health. There have also been studies investigating the remedies potentially useful in battling diabetes. Interestingly, intake of some nutrients like B vitamins has been found particularly beneficial.

Over the years, researchers have been looking into the effects of B vitamins for disease protection. Studies have demonstrated some B vitamins are useful in battling diabetes as well as many other diseases.

This is why it is vital to ensure adequate intake of these nutrients from food or supplements like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex.
