Research Reveals Link Between Childhood Trauma and Mental Health Issues

(Newswire.net — December 1, 2022) Orlando, FL — Various studies have looked into the different aspects of mental health, which is affected by many issues today.

A University of New Hampshire research shows that children who witness the abuse of a sister or brother by a parent can be just as traumatized as those witnessing violence by a parent against another parent.

It is worth noting that such exposure is linked with mental health problems like anxiety, depression, and anger.

“When we hear about exposure to family violence, we usually think about someone being the victim of direct physical abuse or witnessing a spousal assault,” said Corinna Tucker, professor of human development and family studies.

“But many children witness abuse of a sibling without being a direct victim and it turns out we should be thinking more about these dynamics when we tally the effects of family violence exposure.”

The findings of this research were published in the Child Abuse & Neglect journal.

The investigators utilized the combined data from three national surveys to investigate more closely at the experiences of more than 7000 children between the ages of one month to 17 years old.

This actually included any incident in which a child witnessed a parent beat, kick, hit, or physically hurt a sibling in their household over the course of their lifetime. It is worth noting that it does not include spanking.

Of the 3.7 percent or 263 youth exposed to parental abuse against a sibling (EPAS), more of them witnessed abuse by fathers by 70 percent than mothers.

“In some families, EPAS may be part of a larger family climate of violence,” said Tucker. “As more family members are exposed to violence in the household, there can be less emotional security among family members and fewer opportunities for children to observe, learn and practice healthy responses to stress.”

The scientific community continues to carry out studies in looking into the impacts of certain remedies against stress. It is worth noting that chronic stress has long been associated with a myriad of undesirable health outcomes.

There are all-natural remedies like the use of lion’s mane found to be particularly helpful. Lion’s mane has long been studied due to its disease-fighting potential.

It has cognitive-decline-fighting, nerve-repairing, blood-pressure-lowering, neuroprotective, cardiovascular-health enhancing, anti-inflammatory, immunity-boosting, cholesterol-regulating, and weight management properties.

It can be obtained through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane. This extra-strength formula is popularized by its high potency and purity and is even protected with a money-back guarantee.
