(Newswire.net — December 19, 2022) Orlando, FL — Exercise has long been recommended for individuals suffering from osteoarthritis as it relieves pain and enhances mobility. It is also worth noting that physical activity has been found to offer many other health benefits.

A study was carried out in the Department of Sport and Health Sciences at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.

In this study, the investigators looked into the effects of high-impact exercise on the symptoms of osteoarthritis, the bones, cartilage, and the physical performance of postmenopausal women with mild knee osteoarthritis.

It is worth noting the research was conducted in cooperation with the Central Finland Central Hospital and the Department of Medical Technology, the Institute of Biomedicine at the University of Oulu, Finland.

It particularly involved eighty women belonging to the age bracket of between 50 and 65 years. Further, the subjects had knee pain on most days of the month and were assigned randomly to a training group or a control group.

According to  Juhani Multanen, the onset of the degenerative process of osteoarthritis, and if this loss of proteoglycans can be hindered, for example, via physical activity, might slow down the disease progression.

Doctoral Student Juhani Multanen is from the Department of Health Sciences.

Jumping exercises like high-impact loading and rapid change of directions have been found to be the most efficient exercise in enhancing bone strength. The study has further shown that training ended up increasing femoral neck bone mineral mass.

It even enhanced physical functions like muscle strength, cardiorespiratory fitness, and dynamic balance.

The most important finding of this research was that high-impact jumping exercises did not produce negative effects on the cartilage’s biochemical composition. The 12-month training was also very well tolerated by the subjects and did not induce knee pain or stiffness.

The results of this study were published in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research.

More studies are still being carried out to look into the various aspects of osteoarthritis. Today, experts are increasingly recommending the use of certain pain-relieving all-natural ingredients like glucosamine.

This cartilage-repairing amino sugar has long been studied on due to its ability to relieve arthritis pain and other symptoms. It continues to be used by individuals with osteoarthritis through the use of extra-strength formulas like VitaBreeze Glucosamine.

It also has other scientifically studied ingredients for arthritis namely chondroitin, MSM, and turmeric. It could be an excellent addition to dietary and lifestyle arthritis control habits. (http://amazon.com/Glucosamine-Chondroitin-Turmeric-Dietary-Supplement/dp/B00DUMO9X4)
