If you’re from the south, you probably love chicken…especially when it’s fried. But when you can get a great chicken dinner, and know 10% of your purchase goes to organizations that help children, you have to love it even more.

Zaxby’s restaurants Birmingham, Alabama and Montgomery, Alabama locations wanted to do something to support the United Methodist Childrens Home ( www.umch.net ), one of the Alabama and Florida Panhandle charitable organizations that help children by providing foster care and residential group homes for children in need.

So, they came up with an idea.

Since Sunday is often very busy for people who go to church activities in the evening and they need dinner in a hurry, why not give them an opportunity to get a hot, delicious meal and support the Childrens Home Birmingham and Montgomery locations at the same time?

That’s exactly what they decided to do.

Every Sunday in March, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., Zaxby’s participating locations will donate 10% of total sales to the United Methodist Children’s Home.

“At Zaxby’s, we are always looking for ways we can give back to the neighborhoods we serve, so my fellow licensees and I are honored to unite in helping the UMCH,” said David Conner, owner of Zaxby’s in Montgomery.

“Guests who dine with us not only get to enjoy our delicious chicken, but they get to feel good knowing their experience with us helped many families in need,” said Russell Pate , a co-owner of the company that operates five Zaxby’s locations in Shelby County.

Zaxby’s is one of the growing number of businesses and restaurants in Birmingham and Montgomery that has embraced the idea of ‘doing good by doing good’.  The Lee Branch Shelby County restaurant is one of the top locations in the country according to an article in the Shelby County Reporter.

“We are so thankful for the opportunity to partner with a brand like Zaxby’s for the benefit of our children. Zaxby’s tag line is “Indescribably good.” It’s nice to know that this not only applies to their food, but to their sense of corporate ethics and community concern as well” says Dr. Blake Horne, CEO/President of UMCH.
