The SAS High School division is offering new advanced high school classes, ranging from Capstone, a course allowing senior students to create an individualized project based on their passions and interests, to Film and Acting Ensemble, where students will work collaboratively to create an original film product to compete in international film festivals. There are also new courses in engineering, economics and even a yearbook class with a virtual instructor, who is based on the other side of the globe.
The High School also features 24 athletic teams for boys and girls competing in the Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools (IASAS), and sponsors more than ninety clubs, organizations, and activities designed to appeal to a wide range of interests, abilities and talents. SAS High School Principal, Dr. Tim Stuart, said, “This is an exciting time for our students. In the Middle School, Principal Devin Pratt, is proud of their Classroom Without Walls program, which encourages students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades to not only ‘think outside the box’, but imagine that there is no box. During their trips to Malaysia and Indonesia, students have the opportunity to develop stronger relationships with their peers as they learn about environmental and ecological issues.
In the Primary and Intermediate schools, David Hoss, Primary School Principal, and Marian Graham, Intermediate School Principal, welcome back their students and parents, especially the new students. They know how daunting it can be to start a new school in a new country, and make every effort to help ease the transition for students and their parents. Their divisions offer students a wide range of activities where kids can be active and make new friends. Through Elementary After School Activities (EASA), a wide range of programs for SAS students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 include courses in languages, recreation, performing arts, music, art & crafts, Mindstretch, computers and technology.
