According to a recent article published on Music Lovers Blog, the Academy Music Group (AMG) now services deaf and disabled music lovers by making sure that all AMG venues are Attitude Is Everything compliant. Attitude Is Everything is a charity based in the United Kingdom that endeavors to make live music accessible to the deaf and disabled. The Attitude Is Everything charter outlines the practices that facilities must follow to be accredited by the charity as a deaf-friendly music venue.
Music Lover’s Blog reports that Attitude Is Everything offers three awards classes: Gold, Silver and Bronze. These awards are given based on venue improvements that follow the Attitude Is Everything Charter of Best Practice. AMG services meets the highest standards for bringing quality enjoyment of music performances to dear and disabled music patrons.
According to the editors of Music Lover’s Blog, many of the AMG services venues were constructed in the early 1900’s, which made updating the facilities to be disabled friendly posed a real challenge. The recent Music Lover’s Blog article reports that AMG was able to develop action plans for venue improvements by working closely with Attitude Is Everything CEO Suzanne Bull. Bull trained and advised venue managers in bringing all fourteen of AMG service’s facilities up to the standards of the Attitude Is Everything charter, and eight of those facilities received the Attitude Is Everything silver award.
Six of AMG’s venues are currently operating under the Bronze Plus standard, but editors from Music Lover’s Blog say that the performance centers are still undergoing renovations to further meet the requirements of disabled patrons and will likely receive Silver awards in coming years. In the recent Music Lover’s Blog article, a quotation from AMG CEO Graham Walters indicates that the improvements have lead to a significant increase in the deaf and disabled patrons at AMG services venues.
