What Is Your Mouth Telling the World About Your Health

(Newswire.net — January 25, 2014) Portland, OR — We all want to look our best, and sometimes that means hiding ‘cosmetic’ defects in our mouth. But are those defects truly cosmetic?

Based on research by Weston A. Price back in the 1930’s many of the cosmetic problems we are seeing are really indications of poor health.

Crooked, crowded teeth are a prime example. A mouth that is too small to accommodate all 32 of your teeth indicates that during your formative years you were lacking key nutrients. If you ever had braces you have cosmetically hiding the fact that you didn’t eat your vegetables as a kid. Statistics are saying that this describes the majority of adults today.

We think that tooth decay is a sign that the person is eating too many sweets and not brushing their teeth properly, but it can mean so much more. It can mean that they are not getting enough vitamins and minerals in their diet. Some of those vitamins and minerals come from healthy saturated fats. Those fats come from animals that have been grass fed, not factory farmed.

Coconut Oil is a great way to fight tooth decay. This can be done by topically applying coconut oil to the teeth, through brushing with coconut oil based toothpaste, or through oil pulling using coconut oil. It can also help by including more coconut oil in the diet you consume, as well as using it topically on your skin.

Another thing that causes tooth decay is exposure to BPA. This is a plasticizer that disrupts the hormones in the body. Evidently it also disrupts the formation of enamel on the teeth. This is ironic because many of the sealants used to prevent tooth decay contain BPA. So do many of the baby bottles that infants drink from just as they are in the process of developing their teeth. Poor teeth as a child could therefore be an early indicator of hormone and reproductive problems later on as an adult.
